Two people killed and more than 50 injured in russian attack on Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital
Two adults were killed as a result of a terrorist missile attack by russians on the National Children's Specialized Hospital "Okhmatdyt". They were a doctor and a relative of one of the hospital's patients. In addition, more than 50 people, including seven children, were injured. 8 people were hospitalized, including 4 children. Several medics are seriously injured. This information is not final and will be updated as the rescue operation is ongoing.
“As a result of the Russian terrorist attack, four buildings of the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital were damaged and one was destroyed. But for high-quality treatment, it is not so much the walls or even expensive equipment that are important, but people, our heroic health workers. Unfortunately, a young doctor, Svitlana Lukianchyk, was killed today. My condolences to her colleagues, family, and patients. This is a great loss that we will not be able to recover. The rest of the medics are ready to work in other institutions until they are restored to Okhmatdyt.”
At the time of the missile attack, there were more than 600 patients and at least as many medical workers in Okhmatdyt. The evacuation of patients is underway. Children in need of scheduled treatment have been examined and temporarily discharged home. Their parents are being kept in touch. Ukrzaliznytsia is helping these families with accommodation and transportation home, as the children in this hospital are from all over Ukraine.

Currently, emergency medical care is being provided in the operational buildings: pediatric, neurological, and endocrinology departments. Children who cannot be discharged have also been transferred to vacant beds to continue their treatment.
At the same time, about 100 patients were transferred to other medical institutions in Kyiv: National Cancer Institute, Regional Cancer Center, Institute of Neurosurgery, etc. No evacuation to other regions is currently planned. Complex interventions will be carried out in Kyiv medical institutions that have the necessary equipment.
In addition, children who underwent cardiac surgery at the Center for Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery during the missile attack and were injured by glass were transferred to other medical facilities.
The Toxicology building with the Chronic and Acute Intoxication Unit (where children undergo dialysis) of the Okhmatdyt National Children's Hospital was destroyed. Almost all the windows in the old surgical building were smashed, and two surgical and two somatic departments, an intensive care unit, and an operating room were heavily damaged. In the new, recently opened building, 12 departments were damaged, including 8 surgical, 5 oncology, two intensive care units, an operating room, and a radiology and radiation therapy department. Part of the country's only oncohematology laboratory has also been destroyed.
We emphasize that Okhmatdyt will temporarily not provide Toxicology and Emergency Care medical services to the patients. The trauma center has also suspended its work.
